About Us
The Insurance Shoppe is an independent insurance agency located in Smithfield, N.C. and continues to be a locally owned firm that prides itself in offering great service to its clients. The firm has a rich history of providing all lines of insurance to not only just in the Smithfield-Selma area, but a multitude of clients located in the surrounding communities as well.
The agency represents many different insurance company policies in order to tailor the asset protection needs of the clients. The staff brings many years of experience to the transactions to assist with the selection decisions that are necessary for the proper protection at the most affordable rates. Our experiences encompass personal lines, commercial lines, and financial services that are needed to provide the most reasonable alternatives to manage the “risks” that we all are confronted with on a day-to-day basis.
This “independent” agency has combined smaller agencies from Kenly, Selma, and Smithfield to build a “mid-sized” firm that is definitely not too “large” to attend to even the most minor of details for their client’s needs. The current agency has combined at least two agencies from each of the above-mentioned towns into a thriving organization. We blend the new “fangled” computer procedures of asset protection with good “old fashioned” service to offer unparalleled service to the communities we serve.
The Insurance Shoppe was formed in 1977 when David Grady joined the Tom Lucas Insurance Agency in Kenly. In 1978, the Insurance Shoppe purchased the Atkinson Insurance Agency and later merged with Overman Insurance & Associates in Kenly. In 1988, the agency grew again with the acquisition of the Max Creech Agency in Smithfield & the Avery Agency in Selma. The Creech agency had acquired the Stanley Insurance Agency in Smithfield prior to the acquisition by the Insurance Shoppe.
In 1998, Mr. Grady purchased the entire agency from his other partners and the agency also purchased the W.C. Stephenson Agency in Selma. During all these different acquisitions and structure changes, this agency has continued to re-define itself; but, never at the expense of the level of service offered to its “Client’s” needs. We feel this gives us a unique approach to what we do best.
